I chose to name this blog The Chicana Therapist and not The Latina Therapist, because I want to be clear: we are not a monolith! Too often, Latinx communities are spoken about as if we’re all the same. Same culture, same values, and same experiences. But our stories are shaped by so much: country of origin, race, language, migration history, generation, gender, and so much more.

I write from where I stand, as a Chicana, the daughter of Mexican immigrants, a first-generation professional, a mother, a social worker, a therapist, and a researcher. That’s the lens I bring to this space. It doesn’t mean the things we share won’t resonate across Latinx communities, as they often do, but I can’t speak for all of us, and I don’t want to pretend to.

This blog is about honoring specificity while creating space for shared reflection, healing, and dialogue. I hope that anyone reading, whether you identify as Chicanx, Latinx, Afro-Latinx, Indigenous, or simply part of our community, finds something here that feels honest, grounding, and helpful.
